Fracture for saxophone, mandolin and guitar (2021)
Commissioned by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild for a premiere by the Rosetta Contemporary Ensemble. This piece describes the human struggle to connect with others in the aftermath of a catastrophe, which however, results in a further reluctance to relate to the outside world. Each performer represents a person with a scar in their self-image, collapsed to their inner self and socially distanced. They are afraid of being rejected by others, unmasking the truth about this crowded world of loneliness.
