Fracture for saxophone, mandolin and guitar (2021)
Commissioned by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild for a premiere by the Rosetta Contemporary Ensemble. This piece describes the human struggle to connect with others in the aftermath of a catastrophe, but results in further reluctance to relate to the outside world. Each performer represents a person with a scar in their self-image, collapsed to their inner self and socially distanced. They are afraid of being rejected, unmasking the truth about solitude in this crowded world.
有時人們於災難後嘗試與他人溝通,然而這或使他們內心更為崩潰,不敢再與外界聯繫。《裂》描繪的正正是這個處境。
